COFFEE HOUR
Numerous cultural, social, educational and health related topics are discussed during the Monday morning Coffee Hour from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. Coffee/Tea and snacks are by donation. Some of the topics covered during these morning lectures and discussion group are:
— Arts and Culture of different countries/regions
— Awareness of legal issues
— Alternative health practices
— Income tax issues
— Independent and group travel presentation
— Home safety
— Housing and home support services
— Signs and symptoms of disease and preventative measures
— Etc.

MOVIES
On the first Wednesday of each month, seniors, 55 and over, can see big screen films at Empire Oakridge Cinemas located at the 41st and Cambie entrance. Doors are open at 12:00 noon with the film beginning at 1:00 p.m.
By donation: $2.00 minimum. All donations go to Canucks Place Children’s Hospice.
SPECIAL OCCASIONS
Special occasions are celebrated by putting up special lunches and tea parties. These occasions are well-attended and greatly enjoyed by members of the Centre.
Special lunches are arranged for the following occasions: Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Robert Burns Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. During summer we have at least 1 barbecue a month with a special theme, e.g., Hawaiian theme, Western theme, Asian theme, Indonesian, etc.
We arrange Tea parties for Mothers’ Day, Remembrance Day, Special Birthday (100th birthdays), Anniversary (50th wedding anniversaries), Memorial Services, etc.
ONE-DAY TRIPS
DAY TRIPS to various local places of interests throughout Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland and the nearby islands are organized for the pleasure of our members. The President and Manager of the Centre either arrange the trips themselves or partner with other seniors centres and travel agencies. Some of the places that were visited recently are:

Vancouver History Tour (Strathcona, Gastown, Chinatown, Shaughnessy)
