Advanced Care Planning

British Columbiaas updated incapacity planning legislation came into effect on September 1, 2011. The new laws provide more legal options for capable adults to express their wishes and decisions for their future health care, and management of their routine finances and personal care without having to visit a lawyer. When a capable adult thinks and talks about their wishes for future health care with close family and their health care provider, they are doing advance care planning.

Improving Care For Seniors: An Action Plan

In last month newsletter, (OSC Newsletter, April 2012, p.17), we published some of the most important recommendations made by Ombudsperson Kim Carter in her report entitled The Best of Care: Getting It Right for Seniors in BC, Part 2.
